A friend of mine commented on the V-day which got me thinking on this issue! Is Valentine's day a ruse of spending money to bribe our loved one so that we can get out of ignoring him/her for the rest of the year?? Or is it just an innocent day reserved for the purporse of remembering St. Valentine and his valor?? (Again there is little evidence of this happening)
I partly agree on the V-day issue being a major money making scheme of the leading "card-makers"!! It seems as though Halmark and its "peers" have concoted this something which can almost be counted as a festival! I even agree about not reserving a single day for celebrating love but instead..... trying to cherish it for most part of the year seems more ideal!
However in today's fast paced life it seems easy to take your spouse/loved one for granted and so reserving a special day to revive their love seems to be a practical idea!

On a separate issue honouring the martyr Valentine who (some archeologists say so) married couples during wartime when marriages were prohibited, seems like a sweet thing to do when coupled with the need of having a special day reserved for expressing love! The popularity of Valentine's day (reports also say its the 2nd in line for drawing in biggest revenue from selling cards; first is christmas)is solely due to brilliant strategy of capitalizing on human nature of wanting to express his/her feelings; love or for most aplogizing for the lack of it!!!
Whatever it is, I strongly believe that is upto a person whether or not he wants to be a part of this day. And HATE the fact that certain groups of people are forcing people not to... under the pretense of "culture"... democracy is what has kept India alive and strangling it by creating such incidents is unacceptable! The "pink-chaddi" event that people undertook as an opposition to such groups was hilarious! :P :D
PS: I spent it cooking for a bunch of friends and dragging their asses to a movie by blackmailing them! Afterall I had just cooked for all!! :D :P And for the record I loved Billu Barber... as slow and lame as it may have seemed for the rest of the gang!
